Medium Tank Tier Rankings

Mediums are ranked by how much they can take a hill and still leave. Tyr does not respawn. A Tempest that Recalls out after drawing two guns is worth more than a Deadeye that cashes both shells and dies. This expands the tier list hub. Kits live on the medium roster. Camo: Ark 26, Deadeye 25, Valor 24, Ranger 23, Tempest 21, Rook 21, Arbalest 9.

S — Tempest

Tempest is the only medium that combines hull-down turret armor, a five-shell clip, and a teleport. Recall lets you pull enemies off the main line — the exact job the community Tempest guide describes — and still be alive for overtime HP. The skill floor is real: unused gates are a thrown ability, and stolen gates are a thrown map pickup. Even so, the ceiling is the highest in class. If you learn one medium for Early Access, learn this one. Energy shells are halved on the clip; buy them only if Recall is starving. Energy.

A — Ark, Ranger

Ark’s instant un-spot plus a planted bush is a vision cheat on Divide and Fields. It is not Fuse (45% vs 26%), but it is the medium you take when your squad refused to unlock a light. Close-range ability casts still fail; 35 m proxy does not care about your bush.

Ranger is A because ramps create height that the map art did not budget. A ramp-out saves a life. A ramp-in without a plan feeds two guns. Ranger’s 23% camo is average; the ability is the rank.

B — Deadeye, Rook, Valor

Deadeye’s two-shell clip is a high-roll peek. Both shells must be green or you bloomed camo for a bounce. Rook and Valor are the honest lane mediums in the 21–24% camo band. They are what you give a friend who is not ready for Recall micro. B is not an insult; it is “will not carry a disorganized 8v8 by itself.”

C — Arbalest

Nine percent camo is Fortis-adjacent. Arbalest wants to snipe and gets treated like a heavy by every light in a bush. On Scorch with allied spots it can look like B. On Divide without spots it is a loot pinata. Rank C as the default so people stop picking it as a “stealth sniper.” Skins do not fix camo.

Map modifiers

  • Ravine: Tempest up (dune lip). Ranger ramps on the hillside are A-tier plays.
  • Divide: Ark up. Arbalest down.
  • Scorch: Arbalest less punished if a Fuse is already lighting. Still not S.

Spend order

SLVR: Tempest shells and a relocate-friendly component before you own Arbalest. Gold: styles only. Builds. If you crave stealth more than a five-clip, you want the light list, not a louder medium.

Heavies are not ranked on a separate tier URL; use the heavy roster plus the hub table. Mediums who try to out-bounce Fortis are the reason C-tier exists. Learn armor, then come back. New players should still start at how to play — a Recall button does not teach capture math.

One more Early Access note: cosmetics patches that add Arbalest Zero or Kestrel Venom do not move this table. A style is not a camo buff. If Stoke changes Tempest’s five-shell drum or Ark’s un-spot, this page moves; until then, drive Tempest until Recall feels boring, then dabble in Ranger ramps. That order beats owning seven hulls with stock ammo.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for new Tyr pilots and returning playtesters.

Why is Tempest S-tier?

Turret armor, five-shell clip, and Recall let it take space and still live. The skill floor is high; the ceiling is higher.

Is Ark better than Fuse?

No. Fuse has 45% camo. Ark is the best stealth *medium* and a backup scout.

When do I pick Ranger?

When height wins the map or you need an exit ramp. Not as a default brawler.
