Tyr Arbalest
The loud sniper medium — biggest single shot in the game, 15 second reload, and the patience to stay alive at range.
Arbalest is the sniper of the medium class. At 9% camo it is barely a medium by stealth standards — it spots the moment it crests, which means the only way to play it is accepting that you are visible and playing accordingly. The reward is the biggest single-shot damage in the game. If you want a quiet scout, play Fuse. If you want to end a heavy’s module bar from 300 meters, play Arbalest. The siege shot
Arbalest loads one massive shell that deals the highest single-shot damage in the game. The trade-off is a 15-second reload and a complete absence of stealth. You do not peek and shoot — you shoot once, and the enemy knows exactly where you are for the next 15 seconds while you reload.
The Siege Shot does something beyond raw damage: it knocks out every module on the target. Tracks, turret, engine — all of it goes dark. A heavy that was about to push your line is now a sitting, blind, stationary target for your team. This is the real value of the siege shot. Not the damage — the module disable.
Camo and positioning
At 9% camo you are essentially a heavy without the armor. The moment you are in line of sight inside 400 meters, you are spotted. This is not a bug — it is the design. You are a sniper, not a scout. Position accordingly: far back, behind cover, with sightlines to the lanes your team is contesting.
Do not try to be subtle. Subtlety is not an option at 9% camo. Instead, be deliberate. Shoot from positions the enemy cannot flank, and make the one shot count.
How to play Arbalest
Arbalest is a module-disabling artillery that happens to be in a medium chassis. Your job is to sit at range, wait for a high-value target — a heavy that is pushing, a Fortis that is holding a lane, an Atlas that is setting up Sonar — and remove their modules with one shot.
After the shot, you are vulnerable for 15 seconds. Reposition, find new cover, and do not be in the same spot when the enemy turns to return fire. The reload is a commitment — every shot must be worth 15 seconds of vulnerability.
Common mistakes
Cresta at the wrong time and being one-shot by a light that was faster. Shooting at a target that does not have modules worth disabling (a light has no modules to speak of). Staying in the same position after the shot. Expecting the 9% camo to provide any meaningful concealment.
Builds and SLVR priority
Buy the shell damage and reload speed upgrades first — the one shot needs to hit hard and come back fast. Module disable components are also worth prioritizing since the module disable is the siege shot’s special value. Energy shells are useful because the long reload makes the reload assist bonus valuable. See builds for the full loadout. Compare with Deadeye if you want two shots instead of one, or with Rook if you want bush camo instead of range.
Maps: Arbalest is best on Scorch where the long lanes favor range, and on Fields where elevation gives you sightlines across the map. Ravine works if you control the high ground. Divide is hostile because the open terrain means you are the first spot on the enemy’s screen. Maps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for new Tyr pilots and returning playtesters.
How much damage does Arbalest's siege shot do?
The biggest single-shot damage in the game. It also knocks out every module on the target — tracks, turret, and engine all go dark.
What is Arbalest's reload time?
15 seconds. After you fire, you are vulnerable for a long window. Reposition and do not stay in the same spot.
Why is Arbalest camo so low?
9% camo means you are spotted the moment you are in line of sight inside 400 meters. You are a sniper, not a scout. Accept it and position accordingly.
Is Arbalest a good beginner medium?
No. The 15-second reload punishes bad positioning severely, and the 9% camo requires understanding of sightlines and range. Start with Rook or Valor.
What is the siege shot's real value?
Module disable, not raw damage. A heavy with no modules is a stationary, blind target for your team. That is worth more than the damage number.
