Phantom Tank Guide

Phantom is the light that disappears completely. Where other lights have varying degrees of camo, Phantom has an ability that makes it fully invisible — the enemy sees nothing until the first shot blooms the circle. At 37% base camo and 825 health with a 290 damage gun, Phantom is not the best scout, not the best clipper, and not the fastest. What it is, is the best at punishing positioning mistakes from angles nobody else can hold. Parent roster: light tanks hub. Rankings: light tier list. Armor: armor.

The cloak ability

Phantom’s ability is cloaking — full invisibility that breaks only when you fire or get within proxy range of an enemy. The cloak is not camo. It is total visual concealment. Enemies walking past you at close range will not see you unless you shoot first. This makes Phantom extremely powerful for ambushing and for repositioning mid-fight.

The limitation is the 12-second reload. You fire once, you are visible, and then you have a long window where you are an ordinary light with 825 health and no cloak. That reload is a commitment. Every shot has to count.

The windshield critical spot

Phantom has a documented critical spot on the windshield. This is unusual for a light — most lights are too small to have reliable named weak points. The windshield on Phantom is a known hitbox that deals extra damage when struck. If you are playing against a Phantom, aim for the windshield. If you are playing Phantom, angle the front so the windshield is not presenting flat.

This changes how you hold angles. A Phantom hull-down behind cover with the windshield angled is genuinely hard to damage. A Phantom sitting flat is giving the enemy a damage multiplier.

How to play Phantom

The job is punishment, not initiation. You are not the first tank into a fight — you are the tank that appears at a angle the enemy did not know was occupied, fires a green shot at a distracted target, and disappears before they can return fire. The 290 damage gun is enough to hurt mediums and to delete lights.

Cloak is not permission to be reckless. A Phantom in the middle of three enemies with no exit is a Phantom that fires once and dies with a 12-second reload ticking. Use the cloak to approach, fire, and withdraw — not to stand in the open after the shot.

Camo and survivability

At 37% camo, Phantom is in the middle of the light table — above Seeker at 34% and Alecto at 32%, below Kestrel at 39% and Ikarus at 42%. The base camo matters when the cloak is on cooldown. During that 12-second reload window, you are playing as a 37% camo light, not an invisible one.

825 health is decent for a light. Not as much as the mediums, but enough to survive one unexpected shot if you reposition immediately after firing.

Common mistakes

Firing from cloak at the wrong target — a gray shot that bounces wastes the reload window. Standing in the open after firing instead of relocating. Not using the cloak to approach from unexpected angles. Presenting the windshield flat to enemy fire. Fighting at close range where the proxy spot can catch you before the cloak recharges.

Builds and SLVR priority

Buy the cloak duration and recharge rate upgrades first — the uptime of invisibility is the hull’s core value. The 290 damage gun is fixed; what you improve is how often you can use it invisibly. Silenced shells are the base round because the cloak only works before the shot — after you fire you are relying on normal camo. See builds for the full loadout. Compare with Fuse if you want mines instead of cloak, or with Seeker if you want speed burst instead of invisibility.

Maps: Phantom is best on maps with complex sightlines and elevation — Scorch’s ridges, Fields’ towers. The cloak is less useful on completely open maps where there is no cover to approach from unseen. Maps.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for new Tyr pilots and returning playtesters.

What is Phantom's cloaking ability?

Full invisibility that breaks only when you fire or an enemy gets within proxy range. It is not camo — it is total visual concealment.

What is Phantom's critical spot?

The windshield. It is a known weak point that deals extra damage when hit. Angle the front so the windshield is not presenting flat to enemy fire.

How long is Phantom's reload?

12 seconds. After you fire, you are visible for a long window. Every shot has to count.

Is Phantom a good beginner light?

Not really. The 12-second reload punishes bad shot selection severely. The windshield critical spot also requires understanding of angling. Start with Alecto or Kestrel.

What is Phantom's health pool?

825 health, which is decent for a light but not enough to survive sustained fire. You fire and reposition, not brawl.
