Tyr Atlas

The blindest hull that cheats vision anyway — most armor, most health, and a sonar that marks tanks only you can see.

Atlas Tank Guide

Atlas is the heaviest heavy. Most armor, most health, and 0% camo — you are spotted the moment any enemy has line of sight inside 400 meters. What Atlas has that no other heavy lacks is Sonar: a sweep that pings past normal spotting range and drops markers on unspotted tanks that only Atlas can see. The information stays with you unless you call it out. This page is the guide to being the heavy that wins through vision, not stealth. Parent roster: heavy tanks hub. Rankings: heavy tier list.

The sonar ability

Sonar is a ping that extends beyond the normal 400-meter spotting range. It drops markers on unspotted tanks — but those markers start as Atlas-only. Your team cannot see what you see unless you call it out through the ping wheel or voice. This makes Atlas the信息的 source on the team. You are the reason the squad knows where the enemy cluster is before they push.

The sonar ping has a cooldown. Starting Energy is 33 — know whether that covers the Sonar cost before you spawn. If your team has no other vision tools, Atlas is the pick.

Armor and health

Atlas has the most armor and the most health of any hull in the game. This means you are the overtime HP — the body that can stand in a base ring and not evaporate, the tank that can take a hit and keep shooting. It also means you are slow. Approximately 30 km/h, which means you cannot rotate as fast as a medium and you cannot chase a light.

The turret can keep pace with hull rotation — a rare feature shared only with Alecto, Fuse, and Tempest among non-heavies. This means you can track a target while angling, which matters when you are trying to present front armor and track at the same time.

How to play Atlas

Atlas is a information hub and a frontline anchor. You want to be in a position where the sonar sweep covers the area the enemy is likely to be, and you want to call out those markers to your team before the fight develops. You are not a scout — you are visible — but you are the heavy that makes the scout’s job easier by confirming enemy positions.

In the fight itself, you are a gray face that the enemy has to shoot at. Convert bounces into Energy. Hold caps. Be the body that survives when other hulls would have died. This is the heavy job: be loud, be gray, be alive.

Camo and what it means

Zero percent camo means you are always spotted inside 400 meters. There is no bush on any map that will hide you from an enemy with line of sight. This is not a weakness — it is the design. You are not winning by hiding. You are winning by being too armored to kill quickly and by knowing where the enemy is before they know where you are.

Common mistakes

Using sonar without calling out the markers to your team. Pushing alone as if the armor makes you immortal. Not converting bounces into Energy — the armor is only valuable if you are converting the shots you block into resources. Expecting to catch a light.

Builds and SLVR priority

Buy the sonar range and duration upgrades first — the information value scales directly with how far and how long the sweep reaches. Armor components that increase bounce potential are also worth prioritizing since you want to convert shots into Energy. Energy shells are the default — you want the reload assist bonus on a hull that is always taking fire. See builds for the full loadout. Compare with Fortis if you want mines instead of sonar, or with Helio if you want a repulsor instead of sonar.

Maps: Atlas is best on Scorch where the long lanes let a gray face exist, and on Divide where the open terrain means you are visible anyway and the sonar is most valuable for knowing where the enemy is pushing from. Ravine works if you control the crest. Maps.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for new Tyr pilots and returning playtesters.

What does Atlas Sonar do?

It pings beyond normal spotting range and marks unspotted tanks. Those markers start as Atlas-only — you must call them out to your team.

How much health and armor does Atlas have?

The most of any hull in the game. You are the overtime HP — the tank that survives when others would die.

What is Atlas's speed?

Approximately 30 km/h. The slowest in the roster. You cannot chase lights or rotate as fast as mediums.

Does turret tracking matter on Atlas?

Yes. Atlas is one of four hulls (with Alecto, Fuse, Tempest) whose turret can match hull rotation. You can track while angling front armor.

Is Atlas a good pick for solo queue?

Yes, especially if your team has no vision. The sonar tells you where the enemy is, and the armor lets you survive long enough to call it out.
